japan postcard: bar and restaurant signage

There is so much to see in Japan - just don't forget to look up! The signs are amazing. The one above is for a restaurant that specializes in globe fish.

If you're not into fish, how about some pork? I think the pig above left is bemoaning the deliciousness of his kind. 

Not to be left behind, bars have some great signs as well. I would totally buy this octopus a shot.

And then you have the Tanuki. In Japanese mythology, tanuki are tricksters and shape-changers. Statues of tanuki are commonly found outside bars and taverns.

While I've seen lots of male tanuki statues, this is the first time I saw a female one. If you look closely, she appears to be offering the <ahem> milk of tanuki kindness.
