Shanghai Postcard #6

My neighbor was serenading his very orange canary with a traditional zither yesterday.

With Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) just around the corner, there is a crazy amount of meat hanging outside to air dry and cure. 

In addition to these sausages, there are whole ducks, chickens, fish, and ginormous eel-looking fish. I've taken to wearing a hat to the vegetable vendor since the claws of a dried chicken got caught in my hair!
