Where does the yarn come from?

These images are from the tiny town of Heimahe in the province of Qinghai in South Western China. This is where the Qinghai Spinners Cooperative is located, and where Infinite Twist's Qinghai Handspun yarn comes from.

It's a beautiful place, rich in culture and tradition, and full of sheep and yaks!

But what about the yarn itself? It's made from a springy, squishy wool that gives great stitch definition, and it's hand-painted in small lots to provide vivid, saturated colors.

My most recent project using Qinghai Handspun is a collaboration with Lee Meredith of leethal knits, creating kits in Qinghai Handspun for her design Robin.
