About The Love Still Wins Mittens Free Knitting Pattern

Feeling a bit of a chill inside and out?  These mittens deliver warm hands and warm hearts!

With a rainbow of hearts worked in ten contrast colors on a neutral background, these stranded mittens with gusseted thumbs are fun to knit and cozy to wear. They’re sure to brighten up even the greyest winter day.

About this Pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate / Advanced.

Skills Needed: Old Norwegian Cast-on (or Long Tail Cast-on), knit, purl, Fair Isle (stranded) knitting, simple decreases (k2tog, ssk), simple  increases (m1r and m1l).

Finished Size: As charted, fits hands up to 8”/ 20 cm around the knuckles, and up to 7.5” / 19 cm in length from the crease of the wrist to the tip of the middle finger. Designed to fit snuggly at the wrist.

Finished length (after blocking): 10”/ 25 cm.

Yarn: MC: Infinite Twist Hexa (6-ply Merino, 200 y/ 80 g), Dovecote ,150 y; CCs, Infinite Twist Helix (2-ply Merino, 200 y/67 g), CC1: Spooky Purple, 20 y; CC2: Cobalt, 20 y; CC3: Marina, 20 y; CC4: Similan Green, 20 y;  CC5: Acid Green, 20 y; CC6: Meringue, 25 y; CC7: Sunflower, 25 y; CC8: Marigold, 20 y; CC9: Goldfish, 20 y; CC10: Red Devil, 20 y.

Needles: US size 4 / 3.5 mm double-pointed needles, or size yielding gauge

Gauge: 32 stitches and 36 rows over 4”/10cm

Notions: 2 stitch markers in different colors, yarn needle, 24”/61cm waste yarn.
