Inspired by ripples on the surface of water, this shawl was designed and knit during the rainy season in Singapore where I was able to watch the patterns of rain on water nearly every single day.

It was in the context of rain on water that I first discovered the word “myriad,” so it seemed only fair to give this shawl its name.

Knit in two-color brioche, this triangular shawl features faux i-cord edging, rippled top edge, and an undulating motif that is easy to memorize after a few repeats.

Skill Level: Intermediate, with some experience knitting brioche; ability to follow a chart.

Skills Needed: Basic knitting skills plus brioche knits and purls (brk and brp), brioche central double decrease (brcdd), brioche slip-slip-knit (brssk), brioche increases (br4st, brk-yo-brk), Judy’s Magic Cast-on, i-cord, and grafting / Kitchener stitch.

Finished Size: 88 inches / 224 cm tip to tip, and is 24 inches / 61 cm deep at the center point.

Yarn: MC -Infinite Twist Helix, 67 g / 200 yds, 4 skeins / 800 y in total. Shown in Heliotrope. CC:Papiput Tough Sock, 100 g / 437 yds, 2 skeins / 876 y total. Shown in The Struggle is Real.

Needles: U.S. size 3 / 3.25 mm circular needle, at least 80 cm long, or any size yielding correct gauge, plus one set of DPNs in same size as circular needle.

Gauge: 13 CC ribs and 23 CC rows stitches over 4 inches / 10 cm in two color brioche.

Notions: At least one locking stitch marker, yarn needle.
